About Me

Creative Beginnings

Born in Auckland, New Zealand into a family of artists I have always been interested in art. I studied Furniture-making and Design and learned the skill of wood carving, but painting was not something I seriously attempted until I married in 2005. I started out with private tuition using mostly oils, and enjoyed learning skills and techniques needed for the creation of “fine art”. Most of my works were New Zealand landscapes, native birds, iconic trees, and popular tourist destinations.

Change

In spite of several years of successfully producing “fine artworks”, I felt I needed to expand my creative horizons and try different styles of painting using other techniques. This started me down the path of creating more abstract pieces using acrylics, and single colour paintings on anything I could get my hands on, not just canvas.

Aerosol Art

About this time I started taking notice of graffiti and “street art”, and began to appreciate the use of colour and skill used to bring walls to life. I did my first stencil painting of a fantail (or pīwakawaka) which I sold several weeks later. This opened up a whole new world to me and freed my imagination, creating (or attempting to create) anything my mind could conceive. As my style and skill has grown so has the demand, resulting in sales throughout New Zealand and Australia.

On a Path

Even though the majority of my pieces are now “street art”, I still enjoy creating artworks using oils.  I also apply traditional fine art skills to my more abstract and aerosol art pieces. I use my artistic abilities not only to create artworks, but have recently been commissioned to undertake the re-branding and logo design of a creative ideas and solutions agency.
